DESCRIPTION:As a dietitian for over 10 years now\, it is fascinating\, frustrating and sad to see how this profession has been hijacked by those who are unqualified to provide nutrition advice especially when it comes to speciality areas such as food intolerances\, allergies and paediatric nutrition.  \nWith my first live FB event\, I will briefly address the following: \n* The Rise of the so-called “nutrition expert”\n* Who the professionals are\n* Dietitians vs Nutritionists\n* How to spot the fads\n* The impact of social media on nutrition and health \n“For now\, anyone who shares opinions about nutrition or weight loudly and often enough — or cleverly enough — is embraced as an authority\, with no one generally even asking what if any training they’ve had. This is compounded by the fact that\, in the famous words of Bertrand Russell\, “Fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves\, but wiser men so full of doubts.” It is the least substantiated\, most uninformed opinions about how to eat that will come at you with the greatest conviction.
